"Stop bothering, Novajack," Fluro said, resting his chin on his crisscrossed hooves. The grime-yellow metal hoof on his right foreleg made his chin cold, but his fur and body heat would change that.

"No," Novajack replied plainly. "You need to listen."

Fluro scoffed, and adjusted where his chin sat on his hoof.

"You see Fluro, you were telling me about these dreams you've been having, and it really sounds like you've been experiencing some major trauma."

"No kidding! Of course I have, I-"

"Fluro! Listen. You told me how long ago that was and you've only told me now. I could tell from your face this entire time that is has been affecting you, and you aren't well," Novajack said, flicking her tail to the side.

"Well what do you expect me to do? There aren't any professionals around anymore," Fluro argued.

"I'm not a psychologist, but I know all of the things you've experienced, and I have experienced or known people who have experienced all of them before. All of them," Novajack said. She glanced over at Fluro, then back at the sky.

"All right then, give me your..."- he paused for a moment -"...unbound knowledge..."

Novajack ruffled her wings, then said, "you are looking into the past and its problems too much. You know very well that what happens can not be changed, even if you have a time machine. With the effects of the grandfather paradox and the butterfly paradox, you can't prevent deaths from happening, or entire events such as this to take place. There is no evading death, after all. You just have to learn to live with it. I know that sometime in the future, my parents will die, or perhaps I will die before then and other people- ahem, ponies, will mourn me in time. You may be technically immortal, Fluro, but immortality comes with the price of watching loved ones die, unless they too are immortal. And when younger generations have lower mortality rates, we usually see our families die around us, while we create the next generation one by one. It's life, and we just got to deal with it."

Fluro's ears flicked. "But, life, it-"

"I know, life sucks. But there is a reason why," Novajack sighed. She turned her head to look at Fluro. "Life in itself is a lesson, an experience. The ponies who are sent to death or cause it upon themselves intentionally or unintentionally are the ones who made the wrong turn. The ponies who choose to commit suicide because they feel life is too hard, are the quitters who can't see the benefits of making it through."

Fluro saw Novajack's muscles twitch and tense as she said that final sentence. He raised an eyebrow as she paused, taking a breath. He could see her eye twitch, forcing forming tears back down into her tear ducts.

"And the ponies who fight trials and tribulations, the ponies who try like myself..." She sighed at last, "yes we die too, but not before creating a story or making a name for ourselves, we leave a mark, and live a full and rich life that others do not manage to make. A life that is difficult to grasp onto, but not impossible. You have already created stories, Fluro. You have made a mark for yourself, and that is not your cutie mark. You have lead us, whether you realise it or not, and you will lead us in this battle, even if it goes until our veins run dry and our flesh is ripped away from our bones."

Fluro looked up at Novajack, mouth agape. She had spoken so strongly, and she definitely believed heavily in what she had said.
"And you...you're faithful in what you believe?" He asked, flicking his ears.

"Yes. I know that there will always be flaws, like in any religion or faith, but that won't stop me from feeling like this is truly what life is like, no matter how blunt its description is. That's what I am, I'm blunt. I don't sugarcoat things, at least not very well. Can I help it? No, so too bad." Novajack breathed deeply again. "It is late, we should return back to camp."

Fluro nodded. "Let's go."

And as Novajack is a reflection of myself, that is what I believe in, what Novajack told Fluro. Life is confusing after all.
